Why You’re Not Getting What You Want: One Proven Tactic To Turn Your Dreams Into Reality Easily

Do you FINALLY want to get what you desire? Then you must choose the abundance mindset and ditch the scarcity mindset. Let me explain.

The contrast between abundance and scarcity is not just a clash of two words with opposing meanings. It’s a conflict between two WORLDS.

More specifically, it’s a tug-of-war between two worldviews that can shape your reality. A collision of two different ways of thinking. Both of which have TANGIBLE effects on how you live your life.

And if you’re not living the life you want, you have to ask yourself:

Do I want to make your dreams a reality?

Or am I willing to settle for less?

Well, that’ll depend on which worldview you pick.

Many people unknowingly imprison themselves in a scarcity mindset. They’re forever locked in a cycle of limitations, fear, and dissatisfaction. This is especially true for mature women. When you pass that certain milestone, whatever it may be, you feel like there’s no point of return.

You’ll never lose that weight. Because the days of speedy metabolism are gone. You’ll never find the right man. Because all the good men are taken. You’ll never get that job. Because you’re obsolete. If this sounds like you, read on.

In this blog post, we’ll explore how shifting to an abundance mindset can be the key that unlocks a world of opportunities, prosperity, and happiness that you never thought possible.

What To Do When You’re Not Getting What You Want

How often are you dissatisfied with your lot? And how often do you feel bitter thinking about things you covet but don’t have? Feeling inadequate and perhaps even jealous of others?

With the deluge of picture-perfect lifestyles across the media, it’s no wonder you see yourself as a loser. This is when an abundance mindset comes in.

Everybody wants something. YOU want something. No matter if you’re already healthy, rich, loved, or beautiful.

There’s always something you desire. And there’s always something that you fear losing. Something that eludes you.

But when the wanting and the fear of losing make you sick or sad, it’s time to switch gears.

So let me tell you how to banish the scarcity mindset and replace it with an abundance mindset.

It just might change your life.

I know, I know….sounds cheesy. But hear me out.

The scarcity mindset pushed me into the corner of a deep, dark, sad pit.

But the ABUNDANCE mindset got me out of that pit. Even if I’d never heard of such things.

And I want to share with you a few tips. Tips to help you recalibrate your mindset. And to switch from lack and scarcity to abundance and prosperity.

How the New Mindset Helped Me

Many moons ago I’d found myself at the bottom of a deep, murky, smelly pit.

It was that ‘How the hell did I end up here?’ moment.

But really, the question should have been ‘How the hell did I end up here, AGAIN?’.

Because we humans are stupid enough to repeat certain mistakes over and over and over. Until we’ve learned the lesson. We keep hitting that pit wall until we get it. Until we see what we’re doing wrong and figure out how to do it right.

And so, because my head was kind of battered from ramming the dead end of that deep pit repeatedly, I knew I had to change something.

Fundamentally.

I’d only ever heard of the word ‘abundance’ in connection with food. Which I was manifesting physically, and very successfully. I mean, I’d gone three sizes up during my pit-of-despair era, so I know abundance when I see it.

As for scarcity…I was very much touched by it every time I looked in my purse.

Mindset Shift

But I never realized that I could apply these concepts to my thinking. To manipulate them for my benefit. And to do so consciously, deliberately, and positively.

What I did know, however, was that if I wanted to have different results, I’d have to do things differently. THINK differently. Shake things up.

Oh, I’d had such big dreams. Trying so hard to achieve what I desired. Yet, I was nowhere near to getting it. Always lacking. Perpetually looking for ways to get ahead. Never having enough…

abundance vs scarcity mindset

And so, I shifted my mindset. Ever so slightly to begin with. To see how things look at a different angle. And what I saw was a little more appealing than before.

Thus began a slow process of molding my mindset. Of rewiring my brain. Of looking at things at a different angle. And then, of doing thhings differently.

As a cnsequense, I got different, BETTER results.

All of this shift I did instinctively. I didn’t know that the ‘abundance mindset’ was even a thing. I was just so angry and frustrated that maybe I shocked the Universe into giving me a leg-up.

In the end, the mindset shift worked for me very well. I’m now in a completely different place. I operate from a place of abundance rather than scarcity. And things are falling into place for me, almost magically.

But how to get there?

The Scarcity Mindset Versus Abundance Mindset In a Nutshell

Your mindset is like a compass, guiding your thoughts, actions, and decisions.

Two fundamental directions it can point towards are scarcity and abundance.

These opposing mindsets can significantly impact your life journey and your goals.

But what do these mindsets look like, and how can we shift from scarcity to abundance?

Abundance

The abundance mindset is a powerful lens through which you view your world.

If you have an abundance mindset, you don’t see life as a finite pie. One piece to be cut, divided, eaten. And then gone.

Rather, you see it as an infinite well from which everyone can share. Like the magic porridge pot.

Scarcity

But this glass-half-full kind of thinking contrasts starkly with a scarcity mindset.

If you operate in a scarcity mindset, your focus is on lack and limitation.

A scarcity mindset leads you to believe that opportunities, happiness, and resources are in short supply.

But abundance thinking turns this on its head.

Abundance Mindset Vs  Scarcity Mindset And Weight Loss

Imagine, for instance, that you’re on your weight loss journey.

In a scarcity mindset, you’d be anxious about everyone else’s pace. Constantly comparing your progress to theirs. Thinking you’re never going to lose that stubborn fat.

Look at THAT insufferable bitch with her defined abs! Something I’ll never ever achieve…

In fact, I believe that the scarcity mindset is a major culprit in failed attempts to lose weight.

As soon as you think of WEIGHT LOSS, you think of STARVATION.

Right?

It’s thinking that you have to deprive yourself of food to look good. Therefore, you’ll be lacking food. You’ll always be hungry. And losing weight equals suffering.

Logical, no?

This encapsulates the scarcity mindset perfectly.

A belief that there’s never enough. In this case, never enough food to keep you happy. Never enough starvation to make you slimmer. It’s a vicious circle.

But with an abundance mindset, you accept that you’ll have enough to sustain. Even plenty to please your cravings.

You realize that everyone can reach the finish line. Perhaps at different times and along different paths. But ultimately, everyone can succeed.

You can achieve better abs too. And without starving yourself.

This perspective encourages cooperation, gratitude, and resilience. Leading to a richer, fuller life. And better results.

Abundance Mindset vs. scarcity Mindset And Love

But the question of scarcity and abundance is not limited to the physical realm and material wealth.

This dilemma can also manifest in our relationships.

You might believe there’s a finite amount of success, happiness, or opportunity to go around.

Therefore, if someone else succeeds, they’re reducing your own chances of success.

Let’s say you’re looking for love.

If you have a scarcity mindset, you might feel threatened by accomplishments of others.

Fearful that you’ll “there isn’t anyone left in the dating pool”.

Or that “all the good men have been taken already.”

Or that ‘’ you don’t have a chance in the saturated dating market.’’

But if you adopt an abundance mindset, it’s a different game.

So give it a try.

Now imagine you’re entering the dating scene. Don’t think of it as a pool. But rather, as a river. And you’re navigating this winding river that keeps branching out into new channels. The river offers unlimited possibilities for exploration.

This represents the abundance mindset. A belief that there’s plenty for everyone.

It’s an understanding that success, happiness, and opportunity are not finite resources.

Understanding that they can be generated and expanded.

As an aspiring love bird, with an abundance mindset, you might feel inspired by others’ successes.

Believing that “everyone’s unique personality has its place within the dating market”.

Or that “there’s always room for new people and fresh romance in the dating pool.”

Or that ‘’there’s still plenty of good men left and at least one of them will be a great match for me.’’

What’s the Impact of the Scarcity Vs Abundance Mindset On Your Life

In a scarcity mindset, you may frequently experience thoughts associated with limited thinking.

Such as:

“There’s not enough for everyone,”

“I’ll never get ahead, or

“If someone else succeeds, it means less will be available for me.”

Ditch the Scarce View

The mindset you harbor shapes your goals.  And it shapes the journey you undertake to achieve them.

A scarcity mindset can have several negative impacts on various aspects of your life. You may often find yourself trapped in a cycle of negative thinking.

When you have a scarcity mindset, you tend to believe that there’s a finite amount of resources, success, or happiness available in the world.

You may constantly worry about not having enough. Whether it’s about not having enough money, opportunities, time, or resources. There’s never enough to go around or make ends meet.

Because of this limitation, you also believe that there’s a lack of the things that you desire.

And if there’s a lack of things you desire, you won’t be able to bring them into your own life. Because, with your luck, someone else got there first. And that means there’s nothing left for you.

So you perceive life through a lens of lack and limitation. Which often leads to feelings of fear, anxiety, and competition.

Especially as you constantly compare yourself to others. And worry about not having enough to get through life.

This scarcity mindset can lead to a competitive, zero-sum game approach, where you view others as threats.

And so you play it safe, fearing that risks will lead to irreversible losses. In the long run, it can cause stress, stifle creativity, and limit opportunities.

It sucks.

Choose Abundant Thinking

On the contrary, an abundance mindset promotes a collaborative approach. Where others’ successes are seen as proof of possibilities rather than threats.

You might be more willing to take risks.

Knowing that even if you fail, there’s always another opportunity around the corner.

This mindset encourages creativity, resilience, and overall happiness.

Here are three common ways in which a scarcity mindset can hinder your personal growth and well-being:

Scarcity Mindset Creates Fear

These beliefs create a sense of acute scarcity. They can hold you back from embracing opportunities or taking risks. Because you have the underlying fear of not having enough. Or losing what you already have.

Rather than allowing yourself to try new things or embrace challenges, what do you do? You “hole up” and isolate yourself from those opportunities.

Delay launching that business because what if you fail? Back down from going on that date because you’re not attractive enough.  Or, you stuff your face with donuts because you fear starvation.

Because your limiting beliefs make you think taking on the opportunity is too risky. What if you make a fool of yourself?

Pretty messed up, eh?

Limiting Beliefs And Self-Sabotage

A scarcity mindset is often accompanied by limiting beliefs about yourself. About your own abilities, worthiness, and potential for success.

You may doubt your capabilities and constantly fear failure or rejection. These beliefs can lead to self-sabotage.

What do I mean by self-sabotage?

For example, you hesitate to take risks or pursue opportunities. All due to the belief that there won’t be enough for you. Because you think that you’re late to the party. Or because you’re convinced that you don’t deserve abundance.

As a result, you may miss out on fulfilling experiences, personal growth, and new achievements.

Strained Relationships And Competition

A scarcity mindset can strain your relationships with others.

When you perceive resources, recognition, or success as scarce, you may become overly competitive and compare yourself to others.

This can lead to feelings of envy, bitterness, and a constant need to prove your worth.

Instead of collaborating and supporting others, you may view them as threats to your own success.

This mindset can damage relationships. It can create a sense of isolation. It can hinder your ability to build strong connections.

Chronic Stress And Anxiety

A scarcity mindset is often accompanied by chronic stress and anxiety. Constantly worrying about not having enough. Fearing that you’ll miss out on opportunities.

This can take a massive toll on your mental and emotional well-being. Because the persistent anxiety related to scarcity can lead to mental fatigue. As a result, you can experience heightened stress levels, difficulty in relaxing, and a sense of unease.

Such chronic stress can negatively impact your overall health. Especially sleep patterns, and ability to focus.

If You Have a Scarcity Mindset, Is It Possible To Change Your Attitude?

Yes, it is possible to let go of a scarcity mindset. In fact, it’s possible to trade it in for something much better and more productive: abundant thinking.

Believe me, if a natural born pessimist like me can do it, you can do it too. I always saw the glass half-empty. Always felt miserable about not having what I wanted.

My belief was that ‘those things’ are for other people. Not someone like me, at the bottom of the pecking order. I was ashamed because I wanted more, would you believe it?! Yet, I was proven wrong.

Living with a scarcity mindset can limit your potential for growth. It can and it will prevent you from fully enjoying and appreciating the abundance that life has to offer.

However, recognizing and understanding the effects of a scarcity mindset is the first step towards shifting your perspective. Once you’re aware how scarcity thinking is affecting you, you’ll be ready to adopt a more abundant mindset.

A whole new world where possibilities and opportunities are abundant rather than scarce. Think of it as your own Garden of Eden, full of wondrous juicy fruit waiting to be picked by you.

So, how do we get an abundant mindset?

How To Achieve An Abundance Mindset

Abundance, in its most basic sense, is the experience of plenty.

A great quantity of something. This plentifulness is not limited to material wealth or physical possessions.

It spans across many areas of life:

Emotional wellbeing.

Intellectual growth.

Social connections.

Spiritual fulfillment.

But how does this concept transform into a mindset? And how does this mindset influence our lives? Will you look like a fool if I try it?

First, let’s find out if you think abundantly enough.

How You Can Develop An Abundance Mindset

Have you ever thought about the glasses through which you view the world? Your mindset is like those glasses. Coloring your perception of reality and shaping your responses to life’s experiences.

The abundance mindset sees the world as a place full of opportunities. Enough for everyone. This mindset leads to resilience, openness, and optimism.

But do you have it? Let’s delve deeper and find out.

An abundance mindset is characterized by a deep belief in the plentifulness of life.

You see opportunities where others see obstacles. Potential where others see problems. Growth where others see stagnation.

You believe there’s room for everyone to succeed. That one person’s win doesn’t cause another’s loss.

It’s a belief that extends beyond material resources. It encompasses time, relationships, emotions, and experiences.

Picture a musician, their art born out of an abundance mindset. While others might guard their melodies, fearing imitation, our musician shares their work freely. Believing that creativity is boundless. Believing that sharing can only add to the world’s reservoir of beauty.

But do you have the same mindset as our musician? Here are a few questions to help you assess:

1. When you face challenges, do you see them as growth opportunities? Or as insurmountable obstacles?

2. Do you celebrate others’ successes, or do they make you feel insecure?

3. Do you find it easy to share your knowledge and resources, or do you guard them?

4. Do you focus more on what you have or on what you lack?

Your answers will provide a glimpse into your mind. And if you find that you lean more towards a scarcity perspective, don’t fret. Mindsets aren’t set in stone; they can be changed.

And the impact of an abundance mindset is significant and wide-ranging.

Abundant Mindset Motivates

For starters, it fosters a sense of optimism and possibility.

When you believe there is enough for everyone, you become more open. Open to exploring new ideas and taking risks.

Consider the case of a student eager to start a project. A scarcity mindset might make them see only the hurdles. Lack of time, resources, or support.

However, abundance mindset allows them to view challenges as opportunities. Opportunities for growth and innovation. Creating a project that is not only completed but goes beyond expectations.

Abundant Mindset Makes You Resilient

Secondly, it promotes resilience.

You see setbacks not as ultimate failures but as learning opportunities.

Imagine a businessperson whose venture didn’t take off as planned.

Instead of giving up, an abundance mindset would guide them to do better.

To learn from their mistakes. To adapt new strategies. To keep going despite challenges.

It reinforces their ability to bounce back from adversity.

So, how do you cultivate this abundance mindset?

10 Steps To An Abundance Mindset

How can we plot a course towards an abundance mindset?

Let’s delve into some actionable strategies:

Acknowledge Your Reality: Begin by acknowledging the abundance already present in your life. This doesn’t mean you ignore life’s challenges. Rather, you balance your awareness of problems with an appreciation for what’s going well. For instance, you might start a gratitude journal, listing three things each day that you’re thankful for.

Embrace Gratitude: Practice gratitude. Cultivate a habit of recognizing and appreciating the blessings in your life. This is crucial. Because it helps shift your focus. From perceived deficits to the wealth of positives that you already have. Thereby nurturing an abundance mindset.

Show Appreciation: Pause and consider what you already have. You’ll see abundance present in your life right now. Even simple things, like a delicious meal, a good book, or a beautiful sunset, are worth recognizing. By doing so, you’re training your mind to focus on plenty rather than lack.

Foster a Growth Mindset: Firmly believe in your ability to evolve and expand. By doing so, you’ll start to see challenges not as menacing roadblocks. But as stepping stones that lead to self-improvement.

This is the belief that abilities and intelligence can be developed. With effort, learning, and persistence. When you have a growth mindset, you see failure not as proof of your inadequacy. You see it as a springboard for growth and for stretching your existing abilities.

Immerse Yourself in Positivity: You environment significantly impacts your mindset. Make an effort to surround yourself with people who radiate positivity. People who exemplify the abundance mindset. Engage with uplifting content that enriches your mind and encourages positive thinking.

Rejoice in Others’ Achievements: Instead of feeling insecure or threatened by the success of others, take a different route. Celebrate other’s accomplishments. This practice reinforces your belief in the boundless availability of success. Thus promoting an abundance mindset.

Be Generous: Give your time, resources, or knowledge. You might mentor a colleague or volunteer at a local charity. Or just lend a listening ear to a friend in need. This act of giving reinforces the belief that there’s plenty to go around.

Visualize Abundance: Take a few minutes each day to visualize a life of abundance. This isn’t about wishful thinking. It’s about allowing yourself to see the possibilities and feel their reality.

Surround Yourself with Abundance Thinkers: Attitudes are contagious. When you’re around people who live out the abundance mindset, their beliefs and behaviors can inspire and influence you.

Let Go: Lastly, embrace change and uncertainty. Life is constantly changing. And an abundance mindset means you’re open to the possibilities these changes bring. Rather than clinging to what once was.

Summary

To summarize, the concept of abundance goes beyond mere material wealth. It’s a mindset.

A perspective. A way of seeing. A way of looking at the world that encourages optimism, resilience, and a belief in possibilities.

It starts with appreciating what you have, giving generously, and embracing the ebb and flow of life.

In the grand scheme of things, abundance is not something you attain.

It’s something you tune into. And as you do, you’ll discover that life, indeed, has a lot to offer.

Focus On Glass Half Full

Cultivating an abundance mindset isn’t about denying life’s difficulties. Or pretending that everything is perfect.

It’s about choosing to focus on opportunities rather than limitations. On potential rather than problems. On growth rather than stagnation.

Having an abundance mindset means you see the world as a place of plentiful opportunities and resources for everyone. Including yourself.

It doesn’t mean you ignore challenges or difficulties. But rather, you approach them with a perspective that sees the potential for learning and growth.

Adopting an abundance mindset is about recognizing that the glasses through which you view the world are not permanently affixed to your face.

You can change them. You can choose to see the world as a place of plenty. A place teeming with opportunities for growth and success. A place of bounty.

And this choice, in turn, can transform your life. It can make you more resilient, more open, more optimistic. And ultimately, more capable of making a positive impact on the world around you.

Conclusion

In conclusion, whether we adopt a scarcity or abundance mindset is a choice. A choice that shapes our perceptions, actions, and outcomes.

The scarcity mindset limits our potential and robs us of joy. On the other hand, the abundance mindset, might require effort to cultivate. That’s true. But it opens up a world of possibilities and fulfillment.

Remember, the river of abundance doesn’t run dry. There’s enough success, joy, and opportunity for everyone.

So set your compass towards abundance and embrace the unlimited possibilities it offers.
